Celebrate the Boy!

Two of my faves crafter blogs  Made By Rae and MADE are hosting a great sewing theme this entire February – inspiration in making cool stuff specially for boys! How awesome is that! Of late I’ve been sorta sewing more boyish stuff too - among ‘em are the drawstring bag, the chalkmat (ok so its the robo fabric that makes it more boyish hehe). Anyhow, timing couldn’t be better. I’ve been meaning to sew something wearable for young Mike as well. Here a snippet from what to expect this entire month from the two Made-Maids:-

TONS of Boy tutorials* Boy clothing ideas
* TWELVE guest bloggers! (this part REALLY excites me)
* Boy crafts
* Boy bags
* Baby Boy stuff
* Boy giveaways
* Boy design tips

It’s four days into February and the tutorial are making me jiggy with it lol. More of “Celebrate the boy” in flickr

As for myself, as a start, I sew a very simple pants for Mike (just like what I used to sew for Mia). I first started rummaging my overflowing scrapbins late last night, lo and behold I found hubster’s old boxer.Hurrah! I remembered stashing it for reason- upcycling it. Hours later, and this is what I came up with.

Am getting the hang of making this pant. I shall start making more :) .

the double M

Have I told you Mia has started schooling? Ah yes, she’s officially a preschooler girl! But let me tell ya, sending her off on her first day..wasn’t that easy. Dont laugh, its not her..its ME!bley? No really, I cant believe it that shes going to school now? then what? the next thing I know she’ll be 18,and off to college. Yeah yeah Yeah, drama mommy heh.

She did quite well on her first day- cried few minutes when we left her after her recess time. Then we came back to pick her up, she was all smiling and happy to see us. However, second day she was down w fever, called up the principal and took care of her the whole day. By third day, shes all OK and ready to go back to school, feeling all excited! Upon arrival, two teachers were ready by the entrance door to bring up the kids to their classes. So I just waved her goodbye and planted tons of kisses on her cheeks (haha she better not be embarrassed even when shes 18!).

And now,its been almost three weeks. Of course, like us working adult, Monday can be quite a challenge to wake her up. But by Tues,Wed- shes happy to be back. I’m just happy that she’s happy in her school. Occasionally she does bring home homework- to do some coloring and counting, which is great.Although, there’s one time she went overboard coloring almost the whole workbook!Adoi

Young Mike is such a lovable baby. He adore his sister so much so that whenever Mia was busy yapping he’ll be smiling away AS IF he comprehend what she said. Mike has been quite active in rolling over. Plunk him on a mattress/ bed he’ll turn over in no time.

On another note, I’ve been avoiding (read-restraining!) from eating prawns,crabs, squid for quite a while now. This is because I soon learn my baby will have a bad rash on his cheek if I do eat em. Yah, since he still on my booby juice so for obvious reason anything I eat, he practically gets it lah. Poor mommy uh’ bah!heh..I mean poor Mike. Nevermind boy, I’ll sacrifice anything for you dear, eventho Mommy has to suffer abit lah looking at your Daddy and Aunty Hetz itu hari wallap those crabs  like nobody’s business LOL.

One interesting to note too, I’ve finally brave enough to drive on my own w my two kids in tow. We went to pick Daddy up from his late day at work. Well see how it goes when I’m up for a challenge to bring out the kids on my own to somewhere further … err like Ikea on a crazy weekends? hahaha I hope am kidding!

Ok Toodles!

Hello Ruffles!

I still heart anything ruffles.

By far, this has to be my best effort in refashioning hubby’s shirt. I’ve been abandon this project for quite a while and just recently the mood to  upcycle the shirt into something wearable came to my mind (while I was browsing  my idea folders). Originally, I wanted to turn it into my dress (idea from here), but half way through (it was almost done!)  I decided hmm waddaheck, it’ll look cuter on Mia then her mother lol. So yeah, shorten it up, tweaking here and there and here’s the end results.

mia men shirt refashion

Since I am never good at taking body measurement, it got a wee too tight on Mia’s chest, yikes!So so… luckily I have few invisible zippers which I’ve been keeping it waiting for the right time to use it, and hey this is the TIME teehee.  Ah yes, you’ll prolly notice the ruffes are not the same length haha.Geez  tell you the truth I could not be bother dah to repair it . However, I do have ideas on how to hide the flaws, maybe a sash belt will do good uh? On another hand, Mia requested two pocket, but as you can see there’s only one. Again, too tired to bother at that point of time. Will whip up another pocket for you dear when Mommy has more time.

More pic will be uploaded in my flickr since I’m running out of space to upload pictures here in wordpress haih.

Oh but let me tell ya, it wasn’t easy to complete this one piece, what with the neverending housechores, the juggling w two kids, preparing dinner .. ah, I’ll say yay me!

Lovin December

Been pretty occupied with life – work, kids, house chores..ah the usuals. But on top of it all, am lovin all day in December! The Christmas, the long weekend breaks, the year end sale, the meeting up w old friends and latest, our first as family of four, a holiday up north-Kedah & Penang! Well, in fact we just got back yesterday and it was a blast! All we did was eat, eat, eat and EAT! tsk tsk My goodness heh.

kiddos mike and mia

The road trip was accompanied with two other family.Yeah, we just love traveling in groups, more fun that way. We first headed to Kedah where we attended our good friends wedding. Stayed one night in AS at the Star City Hotel.Good thing about this hotel the room was pretty cozy and it has free internet access! Not bad at all. That night, we went out w few other friends looking for good seafood.

Penang was our next destination. Stayed at The Royal Penang. Again, good hotel as well w free internet access too (err goes to show how lifeless well be w/o it uh hehe). Got ourself a promo rate, which was awesome, we’ll since we booked it months ago tho. As I mention, the trip was more of looking for good food and chilling around, which we did that aLOT. I must say, kids was just awesome. Mia behave quite well, which we ended buying her a so called doll house- which has mother + daughter barbie, a bike , slides and swings. She was s0 excited and thrilled that she quickly took off her shoes the moment we step in the hotel room. Yeah she headed to open and play w it. until late night. Mike was happy in his maxi cosi, in his snugg carrier, under my ketiak, well basically hes relatively easy to bring around lah. Except, when its under a hot hot sun that is.

Coming to year end, one Must to-do thing is looking for a calendar! For me that is. However, instead of searching for one, I plan to make one instead.  Hmmph, well sadly I haven’t materialize it. I have no one but myself to blame for freaking procastinate getting a new toner for the printer.Gah!

As for new year reso, gee…I do have fews, but someone told me it will only work if you keep it as a secret. So there,I’m keeping mine too. But  care to share yours? hehe .Anyhow, Have a great day ahead and Happy Happy New 2010!

Of Fairies and Robots

drawstrinbag

This two drawstring bags are made to serve as my kid’s laundry bags. Fairy design for Mia and Robots for baby Mike. Both to be taken to their babysitter.

fairydrawstringbag robodrawstringbag

Drawstring bags are my faves and among the easiest to make too. Manage to whip this up over the weekends (yes, just easy project at the moment). I personally feel it’s best not to mix  their dirty clothes together, what more Mike’s baby clothes are wash separately from us all. Of course, the possibility of this kinda bag are endless. I can store up their toys, their socks, their bottles and even their books & crayons when travel.

Using the same fairy fabric, I sew mini kaftan for not so mini Mia. Good thing it fits her, not so good thing I sucked at the sleeves part (wee bit tight). Urgh! Anyhow, love seeing her in kaftan! See how playful she is nowdays. Cannot stand still.

On another update, Ive been receiving emails regarding on Mia’s party favor – chalkmat. Yes, I sew it myself. Bought the material online couple months back. I didn’t realize some of you reader are interested with it.

Basically the idea of this roll up chalkmat are for kids who love doodling. Even as adult, I love to doodles too hehe. What makes it fun is  that its portable, erasable and most definitely reusable. Few ways I can think of its uses are place mat (turn over to the fabric side, of course its best to wipe clean the chalk mat, i use baby wipes) , or you can even place it at your fridge door( with a magnet) to display your kid’s creative doodling or even list down your To Do List or or  even your Today’s Menu! ;)

On a bright side I got myself a customer! Thanks  Mazuen for believing in me. She bought the chalkmat for her girl. Hope she loves it as much as my girl (+me) enjoy doodling it. Have fun!

Awesome: is when you get what u want

I am just thrill with this carrier!

snuggbabydotcom

pictures frm snuggbaby

It’s by snuggbaby.com. What makes it more awesome, it is a local made! I got it pimped with a meshed sleeping hood and a front waist pocket. Not only that, I can even roll it up and tuck it in its carrier sleeve bag. Now you gotta agree with me, this is cool!

I received the carrier couple weeks ago. Initially, I wanna blog about it until I snap a picture of myself + the kids wearing it. But heck,  couldn’t resist to blog away, but will definitely post up the pics soon!

Mia had the privileged to give a test run first before her baby brother. Lo and behold, while she’s in it, I didn’t feel the heaviness of carrying her (she’s 12kg btw). Of course, when Mike was in it, couldn’t feel a thing too. No backache, shoulder ache or what nots. Bliss! I have to say, the carrier itself is fashionable cool too.

I have to thank to this awesome babe, Liza(of Snuggbaby ) who came up with a brilliant ssc* carrier. Just like its motto, if its not snug, its not snugg.

Snuggbaby just celebrated its first aniversary. She’s currently having a blog giveaways so if you’re looking for a carrier, I totally recommend it. Get it now and you could  be in the running to win the SSC carrier ( I would love to have more too!lol) and a mystery gift.

Again,happy birthday Snuggbaby!You got yourself one happy customer here. )

Mike turns three months

mike3mth

Here’s Ted jr. looking all macho haha.

Yesterday, we took him for his monthly jab. Mike being a real boy didn’t cry one bit. I was kinda worried if he was gonna gave a loud wail (like his big sister!), but na-ah, instead he just smiled and continue sleeping.Champion betul!

On the other hand, he still has that cradle cap. It kinda comes and go. We did apply olive oil on his head, but like I say, it  still comes and go. Doc finally told us to get shampoo specially for the cradle cap. And I just did! It’s by Buds. Gonna give it a try. Praying hard this work. (but if any of you know a great remedy that works, do tell. I’ll be happy to give it a try too.)

A week ago, Mike’s face  was covered with red patches all over . It  was quite upsetting. I was afraid if its an eczema. But looking back of what could be the cause, I remembered having a hearty dinner with lotsa prawns the night before. So I suspected that might be the reason, since he is still on  my boobymilk, it maybe? trigger the allergic perhaps? I don’t know but my instinct it is. For days we applied Mike’s face with sebamed facial cream. By the third day, it has subside. We couldnt be more happier w the result. And yes, as for now I try (try?) avoiding from eating seafood.boohoo

At this month, he now weights 7kilos. Totallllly daddy’s boy. My current obssession with Mike is his smelly mitten hehe. Man, it’s like a drug to me.Wish I can bottle it up and keep it for-e-vah.LOL ok silly mommy.
