Aren’t those angel wings darn cute! I must say, timing couldn’t be better! We have a fairy theme birthday coming up, and I am so inspired with this photos. And since Mia is wing-less, those wings would look good on her. Read the rest of this entry »

All the above books are bought here, at our local bookstore. The one I’ve been dying to get was this ‘One Yard Wonder‘ book. Ever since I came to know about it in the crafty blogworld, read it’s reviews here and there, it’s been on my ‘must have book’ list. It did crosses my mind to get it via online – but yes, the shipping rate are just not too kind for me. I have to say “patient is indeed virtue ” hehe. Just when am not looking for it, it’ll pop up right in front of me. Ah the joy of getting your wish list
. Anyways, busy is my middle name – and so, I’ve yet to try any of it’s project. How sad. But when I do, I’ll post it up..whenever that is hoho. ;P
Another GRRRReat book is this The Sewing Book by Alison Smith. If you’re a beginner & have the least knowledge how to operate a sewing machine and ever willing to learn on your own- this is a highly recommended book to get! It has detail photos + elaborate explanation how ( to make ruffles, buttons holes,etc), what (kinds of fabric to use, etc), why (the technique). Totally my sewing bible book. Deserved a Thumbs up!!
Next up, ah yes – my collection of coffee table book. I Love Your Style by Amanda Brooks. It cost me RM19.90, too good for me to just pass it off. So, buy lor! Plus, something I can drool over its stylish, glamorous and practical fashion style. Basically “I Love Your Style is a sumptuous full-color look-book and style bible, complete with more than 400 classic and modern photographs, that will both empower and inspire women to dive into the challenge of defining, or refining, their personal style.” – amazon. Yerp!
And finally, Applique Your Way . This one, I didn’t plan to get it, just one of those ‘hand very itchy to get it as well’ ..ya know. LOL. That being said, this book show some easy and cute stuff to make your project more fun. It’s a great book when you need some ideas and inspiration to get your creative juice flow.
Well, I hope this brief review of mine will get you inspire to get those books I’ve listed. Until then, happy crafting!

Mike turns six month old today, and just hours ago I was caught busy googling what puree food should I prep for him (when of course, it should hv been just plain rice lah kan for now heh). What a slack uh. Anyhow, still not too late and nothing to rush about right. After all, he will eventually eat sooner or later. It’s true, second time parenting – I am more relax and a wee bit wiser too.
Every time I look at him, he seems a little taller, a little heavier and little smarter too! Did I mention he loves blowing bubbles. Yerp, that is he’s faves do. Oh and he sure can rolls , that’s how he move from point A to point B now. He almost went under the sofa too the other day. And boys being boys (as i was told), he sure loves to get stuck at me boobies. Sometimes way too long you see. Ouch!
My girl on the other hand, loves coloring and coloring and coloring. Yes that much! And swimming too. It’s been almost 3 month she’s into swimming lesson and we can definitely see the improvements. But a thing about swimming, we sure depends on the weatherman!
xx
There’s so much been happening in the month of Feb- likes Mike’s aqiqah, was held in Kuantan. I turn a year older (entering the new series) – small celebration w loves ones, i’ll say it a nice age to be at -not too young, not too old,we’ve past the young and reckless age hehe yeke?. On top of that, I’ve been busy completing few sewing projects for a friend. Still WIP (that’s work in progress). Oh I found this awesome book I’ve been dying to get online, but end up I found it right here in our local book shop. Bliss. Will update on that ..later.
Alritey,until then peeps- Have a GREAT Monday and days ahead!

Two of my faves crafter blogs Made By Rae and MADE are hosting a great sewing theme this entire February – inspiration in making cool stuff specially for boys! How awesome is that! Of late I’ve been sorta sewing more boyish stuff too - among ‘em are the drawstring bag, the chalkmat (ok so its the robo fabric that makes it more boyish hehe). Anyhow, timing couldn’t be better. I’ve been meaning to sew something wearable for young Mike as well. Here a snippet from what to expect this entire month from the two Made-Maids:-
 |
TONS of Boy tutorials* Boy clothing ideas
* TWELVE guest bloggers! (this part REALLY excites me)
* Boy crafts
* Boy bags
* Baby Boy stuff
* Boy giveaways
* Boy design tips |
It’s four days into February and the tutorial are making me jiggy with it lol. More of “Celebrate the boy” in flickr
As for myself, as a start, I sew a very simple pants for Mike (just like what I used to sew for Mia). I first started rummaging my overflowing scrapbins late last night, lo and behold I found hubster’s old boxer.Hurrah! I remembered stashing it for reason- upcycling it. Hours later, and this is what I came up with.

Am getting the hang of making this pant. I shall start making more

Have I told you Mia has started schooling? Ah yes, she’s officially a preschooler girl! But let me tell ya, sending her off on her first day..wasn’t that easy. Dont laugh, its not her..its ME!bley? No really, I cant believe it that shes going to school now? then what? the next thing I know she’ll be 18,and off to college. Yeah yeah Yeah, drama mommy heh.
She did quite well on her first day- cried few minutes when we left her after her recess time. Then we came back to pick her up, she was all smiling and happy to see us. However, second day she was down w fever, called up the principal and took care of her the whole day. By third day, shes all OK and ready to go back to school, feeling all excited! Upon arrival, two teachers were ready by the entrance door to bring up the kids to their classes. So I just waved her goodbye and planted tons of kisses on her cheeks (haha she better not be embarrassed even when shes 18!).
And now,its been almost three weeks. Of course, like us working adult, Monday can be quite a challenge to wake her up. But by Tues,Wed- shes happy to be back. I’m just happy that she’s happy in her school. Occasionally she does bring home homework- to do some coloring and counting, which is great.Although, there’s one time she went overboard coloring almost the whole workbook!Adoi
Young Mike is such a lovable baby. He adore his sister so much so that whenever Mia was busy yapping he’ll be smiling away AS IF he comprehend what she said. Mike has been quite active in rolling over. Plunk him on a mattress/ bed he’ll turn over in no time.
On another note, I’ve been avoiding (read-restraining!) from eating prawns,crabs, squid for quite a while now. This is because I soon learn my baby will have a bad rash on his cheek if I do eat em. Yah, since he still on my booby juice so for obvious reason anything I eat, he practically gets it lah. Poor mommy uh’ bah!heh..I mean poor Mike. Nevermind boy, I’ll sacrifice anything for you dear, eventho Mommy has to suffer abit lah looking at your Daddy and Aunty Hetz itu hari wallap those crabs like nobody’s business LOL.
One interesting to note too, I’ve finally brave enough to drive on my own w my two kids in tow. We went to pick Daddy up from his late day at work. Well see how it goes when I’m up for a challenge to bring out the kids on my own to somewhere further … err like Ikea on a crazy weekends? hahaha I hope am kidding!
Ok Toodles!

I still heart anything ruffles.
By far, this has to be my best effort in refashioning hubby’s shirt. I’ve been abandon this project for quite a while and just recently the mood to upcycle the shirt into something wearable came to my mind (while I was browsing my idea folders). Originally, I wanted to turn it into my dress (idea from here), but half way through (it was almost done!) I decided hmm waddaheck, it’ll look cuter on Mia then her mother lol. So yeah, shorten it up, tweaking here and there and here’s the end results.

Since I am never good at taking body measurement, it got a wee too tight on Mia’s chest, yikes!So so… luckily I have few invisible zippers which I’ve been keeping it waiting for the right time to use it, and hey this is the TIME teehee. Ah yes, you’ll prolly notice the ruffes are not the same length haha.Geez tell you the truth I could not be bother dah to repair it . However, I do have ideas on how to hide the flaws, maybe a sash belt will do good uh? On another hand, Mia requested two pocket, but as you can see there’s only one. Again, too tired to bother at that point of time. Will whip up another pocket for you dear when Mommy has more time.
More pic will be uploaded in my flickr since I’m running out of space to upload pictures here in wordpress haih.
Oh but let me tell ya, it wasn’t easy to complete this one piece, what with the neverending housechores, the juggling w two kids, preparing dinner .. ah, I’ll say yay me!
